So many parents and students don’t even begin to think seriously about career plans until a degree is earned. Let’s examine what students and parents can expect by working with a career coach.
As a parent, you play an important role in preparing your student for their future. You want the best for them to be excited, confident and optimistic. A parent can decide to position their child for future success by giving them a critical advantage: career reality and clarity.
Challenges
A college student has many priorities including managing time. It’s usually about time to study, time to attend class, time to meet with friends, time to connect with family and time to relax. It’s frequently the first time the student has been away from home for a prolonged time. Most responsibilities fall on the student instead of their family.
It can be stressful feeling pressure to select a college and a major. Students tend to compare themselves to all their friends, who can appear to know what they want to do in life. Many students have second thoughts about their major and are challenged to find a clear direction. In addition, it can be overwhelming to think about starting a career after graduation.
With many choices, lots of competition, and uncertainty about which career is right for them, it’s easy for students to feel overwhelmed. That anxiety can cause poor decisions that can easily waste time, money and energy.
Here’s a fact, 1 in 3 high school students will choose a college major that doesn’t fit with their interests and abilities. There are over 800 careers to choose from. If you don’t know which path to take, it’s easy to be confused.
Opportunities
During a student’s four year education journey, it can be highly effective to take ownership of a career path, plan long-term goals, and position yourself for advancement.
It’s important to develop the leadership skills and executive presence needed for career growth early. Addressing this while in school creates a mindset of Learning + Earning. The greatest attribute a student has is the state of mind, and an L&E state of mind creates powerful habits and positive energy.
L&E is the foundation of our college coaching process. Coaching leads students to map out, refine, and own their career trajectory. From securing interviews to entrepreneurship, we provide solutions on the students terms.
It’s Emotional
Some students and parents become frustrated, lose confidence and even self-esteem. Students commonly feel stuck because without knowing what to do next.

Your Mirror
If you honestly look at yourself closely, you will understand that life is almost completely determined by habits. Subconscious and unconscious thoughts drive your behavior. Even your thoughts and moods are repetitive, the same almost every day.
Some habits are positive and beneficial. They are the ones you want to keep and nurture. But some can be inhibiting. They don’t serve you, and it’s likely they don’t serve others. They are habits you want to address. It’s unproductive to focus on the negative habits.
We have a solution and it’s designed to change your perception of yourself. Behavior is a powerful habit and everyone can be judged by their behavior.
Habits and Behavior
Habits Can Easily Become Obstacles
Behavior can affect success!
What if you don’t make the time? Successful people don’t have the time, they don’t find the time: they make the time.
- You will always make time for what’s important to you.
- Plan, prioritize, take control of your time.
- Break down big tasks into small manageable ones.
- Wake up early, statistics show the most successful people get up early and use that peaceful time well.
What if you regularly add too much value?
- Do you ever feel you can’t stop improving upon an already great idea or taking over a document or presentation and always make it better? It may already be good enough, even great.
- Do you self-reflect and make choices? Who we are is usually determined by the choices we make.
Life is a series of choices and shapes who we are and how we view ourselves.
The habits we keep and the habits we discard can change our energy and results.
Do you strive for perfection? Do you fear failure or not being good enough and are afraid to be criticized? These are some reasons why people become “perfectionists.”
Research shows perfectionism leads to a drop in productivity and performance.
Perfectionism can also increase stress, negative thoughts and poor work-life balance.
Do you react when you’re triggered” Become defensive, blame others and maybe lash out? This is a very harmful behavioral habit, and very common.
- Get the visibility you always wanted and learn how to find and apply your authentic voice.
- When you feel your best, you perform at your best. Find purpose and meaning at work, in life, and everything you do.
- Lead with confidence and build up, inspire, and empower the people around you.
- Fine-tune your ability to present, communicate, and collaborate with others effectively.
- Increase your focus, productivity, and accountability to accomplish more.
