Managers are not necessarily leaders. Everyone has their own definition, this is my understanding of a leader:
Strong leaders…
- Give every room and meeting they walk into a burst of energy
- Request your ideas
- Ask for your feedback on the company’s culture
- Follow up on, or act on the feedback you share
- Set boundaries and respect yours
- Offer praise in public, and discipline in private
- Are transparent about their plans
- Share wins and business success
- Give credit where credit is due
- Take an interest in your life outside of work
- Rarely schedule meetings over lunch
- Dive into the day-to-day weeds when they’re needed
